April 24, 2018
Sometimes a poem writes itself, whispering fragments here and there while I am about the business of the day. This is one of those.
I might have added the last lines all on my own though.
things
things break:
childhood teasets
porcelain plates
crystal goblets
legs, arms,
hearts
things disappear:
hand knit mittens
one emerald earring
mom's memories
time
people
things unravel:
special sweaters
perfect plans
friendships
minds
things fail:
science experiments
birth control
unsinkable ships
marriages
things end:
political regimes
long lives
april
poems

Love it all, but smiled at the "things end" part, like "April/poems". Almost there!
