Waiting
is the lace on the collar
of the dress
that you wear to school
for picture day
and it scratches and itches,
and scratches and itches,
a long, long time

It's that word "waiting" that touches, Cheriee. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does! and it itches and scratches!
DeleteInteresting twist on "waiting". I usually associate it with anticipation or lines...but this connects it with forbearance. And it reminds me of having to wear itchy, scrunchy ruffled rumba undies for my First Communion!
ReplyDeleteI hate to wait so It feels pretty scratchy itchy to me!
