Fears
I am afraid of
spiders
of pretty much any size and species
But bees are ok
I am afraid of
walking
down lit city streets by myself after dark
But country lanes are fine
I am afraid of
loneliness
that vast landscape of the lost
But like being alone
I am afraid of
death
stalking and stealing the people I love
But love anyway
I am afraid of
rejection
for speaking out or doing something wrong
But say it anyway
I am afraid of
failure
of not being enough regardless of effort, accomplishment and accolades
But still try
I am afraid of
the monster
biding its time hiding inside of me
But still face it
I am afraid of
vulnerability
of writing and sharing poems that expose who I am
But keep doing it

I love the pattern you've chosen, Cheriee, and the things you're willing to share, but still do. A courageous poem from brave you!
